ER70S-6 MIG wire has Carbon, Manganese, and Silicon as the main alloying elements to deliver superior weld quality and reliable performance. It is well suited for steels containing medium levels of mill scale and contaminants. The wire’s copper coating promotes excellent feeding characteristics. It’s a good choice for welding structural steel, pipe and automotive repairs. This solid wire requires external shielding gas to keep contaminants out of the weld pool during welding. Use a mixture of Argon and CO2.
NOTE: Low Hydrogen usually refers to Stick electrodes. These Low Hydrogen electrodes are designed with a special low moisture cover. Hydrogen diffusion into the weld area usually comes from moisture either from the parent material or filler. Because a MIG wire has no coating and therefore doesn’t hold moisture like a stick electrode does, it is by nature a low hydrogen electrode. If you are worried about hydrogen cracking, preheat your base metal slightly to remove any parent metal moisture before welding.
