MIG welding aluminium requires a 100% argon gas or an argon-helium mixture. You cannot use the 75/25 Ar/CO2 shielding gas to weld aluminium. Carbon dioxide cannot be present in the shielding gas because it’s a reactive gas. Even a tiny amount of carbon dioxide will devastate the aluminium and create a severely impaired joint.
